Description

This is a group of four back-to-back houses, built in 1843, as indicated by a datestone. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone, with some areas rendered, and have pitched stone slate roofs. The gables are coped, and there are stone brackets. Chimneys are prominent, with two gable stacks and a central stack, all featuring large stone blocks, copings, and water tabling. The houses are two storeys high with a basement.

The southeast elevation has a doorway with a stone surround and a small cornice above. There is one two-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor and three single-light windows and one two-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The northwest elevation features three entrances with stone surrounds, two three-light stone mullioned windows, one four-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, and three five-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor. The southwest gable has two basement doorways and two mullioned windows, one three-light and one two-light. The first floor has a two-light stone mullioned window. An attic Venetian window with stone surrounds and glazing bars to two lights is set into this gable, accompanied by a small stone plaque. The northeast gable mirrors this with a three-light Venetian window to the attic. The chimneys are topped with square stone pots that have triangular tops and moulded sides. A stone plaque on the apex of the southwest gable reads "A I & M NEW YORK HOUSE 1843".
