Description

The terrace comprises five cottages at 17-25 Clay Well, Golcar, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone slate roof, partially covered with bitumen. They have coped gables, and part of the terrace features stone brackets supporting the gutter.

The south-east elevation has a ground-floor section with three 3-light stone mullioned windows, two of which have had one mullion removed. There are also two 4-light stone mullioned windows, both of which have had two mullions removed. The first floor has seven 3-light stone mullioned windows, one with a light blocked, and two with one mullion removed. Cottage number 25 has one 5-light stone mullioned window. The north-west elevation includes a blocked loading door, and two 2-light stone mullioned windows. A more modern window is present at number 23. The west elevation of number 25 has one 3-light stone mullioned window, with one light blocked. The terrace is included on the list for group value.
