Description
Temperance Hall, located at 78 New North Road, is a mid-19th century building constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings. It stands two storeys tall and features a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course adorned with carved wreaths on the piers. The building has a continuous moulded sill band and horizontally rusticated corner pilasters. The central bay slightly projects forward and is topped with pediment-shaped acroteria. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with Wilton-moulded frames and sunk aprons. The ground floor includes two canted bays supported by Tuscan piers, each with cornices and blocking courses. The entrance door has moulded panels and a fanlight, situated within an Ionic porch that features a full entablature and blocking course.
