Description

Colne Bridge is an early or mid 18th century bridge located on Colne Bridge Road. It was described by Robert Carr and John Watson in their 1752 publication, "West Riding Book of Bridges." The bridge's width was doubled in 1801 and it stands on the site of the earliest bridge in the Huddersfield district. Constructed from ashlar, it features two segmental arches with rusticated voussoirs and keystones, as well as cutwaters. There is a band and a parapet with coping that is splayed at the approaches and terminates in cylindrical piers.
