Description

The building is a late 18th-century lock-keeper’s house with additions from the early 19th century, situated beside the Calder and Hebble Navigation canal. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, forming an L-shaped plan. The front of the house features a doorway with monolithic jambs, flanked by single sash windows. A single-storey extension was added around 1983 to the left. The original canal-side house has a doorway with monolithic jambs and a three-light, flat-faced mullioned window with an overlapping lintel. An ashlar stack is located at the junction of the two sections of the building, alongside a brick stack. The building has hipped roofs. It is listed for group value.
