Description

Burnsall Bridge is a bridge built in the 17th century, with restoration work carried out in the 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features three large segmental arches, along with a smaller arch on each side, all made with voussoirs. The bridge has triangular section cutwaters that rise into pedestrian retreats, and there is a pilaster at each end. A band runs along the structure, topped by a parapet. Notably, half of the bridge is located in the parish of Hartlington.

Additionally, there is a historical note regarding the adjacent bridge house, which has a county bridge marker on its boundary wall. This marker indicates that the upkeep of the bridge and its approach road was the responsibility of the West Riding of Yorkshire county.
