Description

This is an early to mid-19th century house and adjoining barn, with later bay windows added to the south-west elevation. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone slate roof and coped gables, featuring stone brackets and two ashlar stacks.

The north-east elevation has a central doorway with a stone surround and tie-stones on the ground floor. Above this are two four-light stone mullioned windows, though two mullions have been removed from each. The first floor also has two similar four-light windows, and a central two-light window where one mullion has been removed. The south-west elevation features a central ground-floor doorway with a stone surround and tie-stones, with early 20th-century bay windows on either side. The first floor has three single-light windows with stone surrounds, and a prominent sill band. An internal wall has a former window with a chamfered surround, suggesting an earlier origin.

The barn’s south-west elevation includes a large central doorway with a segmental arched head, stone surround and tie-stones, and a smaller doorway with a stone surround. A small stone lean-to extension with arched windows is also present. The north-east elevation has a large central doorway with a semi-circular arched head, stone surround and tie-stones, and a smaller doorway with a stone surround. A reset lintel above this small doorway bears the inscription "WS IS 17 44". A later extension to the north-west has an entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones.
