Description
No. 5 Commercial Road is a detached house dated 1642, constructed from dry coursed rubble with quoins. It features a renewed stone slate roof with hollow chamfered coping on the left gable. The building has two storeys and a near-central doorway framed by square jambs and a large lintel inscribed with "1642 T.I." The windows are double chamfered, with a 5-light window on the left and a 4-light window on the right, both having two mullions removed. A hood mould runs above these windows and continues over the doorway. On the first floor, there is a 5-light window and a 2-light window, with both gables also featuring double chamfered windows, some of which are blocked or altered. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut, likely from the same period, with a doorway and a small 2-light window on each side, both having a mullion removed. Inside, the left room has chamfered beams and stop-chamfered joists.
