Description

Manor Farm Jubilee Youth Centre is a cruck-framed building and adjoining former barn, now serving as a youth centre. It likely dates from the 17th century or earlier, with the barn and most of the walling from the 18th century. There is some late 19th-century walling and some recent additions. The early walling is made of dry coursed rubble, while the rest is constructed from hammer dressed stone, topped with a slate roof.

The southern part of the building features cruck trusses, with one foot of the trusses exposed at ground level to the right of a recent stone porch on the west side. On the east side, there is a square-headed, partially blocked cart entry. The later barn includes an elliptical-headed cart entry on the east side and a mistal door with a deep lintel inscribed in a heart shape: "Willm) Oxley 1700 Mary."

The two cruck trusses meet at the apex and have collars. The tie-beams are sawn off flush with the blades but project outwards into the side walls. Some timbers have been recently added, and the purlins do not appear to be in their original housings on the outer face of the cruck blades. The former barn features two king-post trusses, with struts and a projecting king post supporting the ridge.
