Description
Lower Rotcher and the adjoining barn are late 18th century structures comprising a cottage, house, and barn. They are built from hammer-dressed stone with quoins on the cottage and feature a pitched stone slate roof. The cottage has moulded footstones and is two storeys high.
On the south elevation, the ground floor includes an entrance with stone surrounds and tie-stones, alongside a recessed 5-light stone mullioned window with a central sash and rounded arched heads on the lights. The first floor has two recessed 3-light stone mullioned windows, each with a central sash and rounded arched heads. The barn features a large central arched entrance with a small vent above it, as well as a small doorway with a stone surround and a large lintel.
The east elevation has a small window with a false arch and a porch leading to No 1 Lower Rotcher. No 1 is set back from No 2 and has a modern porch with an entrance and one 2-light stone mullioned window, although the mullion has been removed. The first floor of No 1 includes one 3-light stone mullioned window.
