Description

Nos 188, 188A, and 188B on Lockwood Road is a mid-19th century former spa hotel, designed to complement Lockwood Baths. The building is constructed of ashlar and features a hipped slate roof. It has three storeys, with a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. The façade includes a continuous first-floor sill and four ranges of sash windows. The entrance door has six panels, four of which are fielded, and is topped by an oblong fanlight, framed by two Tuscan three-quarter columns that support a full entablature. There are three steps leading up to the front door, which is accompanied by Regency-style cast iron railings. Additionally, there is a carriage entrance with a three-centred head and moulded voussoirs.
