Description

The monument to Samuel Laycock is located in Marsden Park and was erected in 1911. It features Celtic sculpture and commemorates Samuel Laycock, a poet from Marsden who lived from 1826 to 1894. The base of the monument includes a stone that is carved in low relief with a garland or crown made of oak leaves, acorns, and flowers. This stone was relocated from another site in Marsden during the 19th century and is believed to be of Celtic origin.
