Description
A row of cottages dating from the middle to late 18th century, situated on Widdop Road in Heptonstall. The cottages are built of hammer-dressed stone, with some areas watershot, and have a stone slate roof. They are two storeys high and face the road. Each cottage originally had a doorway with a tie-stone jamb and a four-light chamfered mullioned window. Some of these windows have lost their mullions. Number 1 has had a bow window inserted, which is considered inappropriate to the original design. Each cottage originally had two two-light windows on the first floor. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there are four stacks along the roof ridge.
