Description
Upper Han Royd is a laithe-house dated 1876 that incorporates fragments from the 17th century. It features watershot masonry, ashlar quoins, and a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys. To the left, there is a barn with a basket-arched cart entry that includes impost blocks and a keystone, with a Venetian window above it. The lintel of this window is dated 1816. There is a mistal doorway with monolithic jambs to the left of the barn entry. To the right, the house has five-light flat-faced mullioned windows on both floors, although some lights are blocked. The ground floor has two bays of double chamfered mullioned windows that were originally four lights and six lights, missing alternate mullions, along with a doorway with monolithic jambs positioned between them. On the first floor, there are chamfered mullioned windows that were originally four lights and five lights, also lacking some mullions. The building has two stacks. At the rear, there is a Venetian window above a doorway with monolithic jambs leading to the barn, and gutter brackets are present.
