Description

The Coach House to Ewood Hall, now converted into two dwellings, dates from 1863. It is constructed from dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The south front has four bays arranged in an ABBA pattern. The central bays feature semi-circular arched entrances with rusticated surrounds and keystones, each bearing a shield and the date. Above each entrance is a first-floor window composed of two arched lights. A gable over these bays features two lunettes with a shared sill supported by consoles, and a circular aperture above. A carved coat of arms is located at the apex of the gable. The outer bays each have a basket-arched doorway, flanked by a window, with a more recent 2-light window above. Quoins are present. The rear fronts a road and is characterized by a gable featuring a similar elliptical-headed entry, surmounted by a corresponding arrangement of lunettes and a bullseye. Another plaque with the date and initials is set in the apex, along with two recent windows to either side. A hipped roof covers the rear elevation.
