Description
4-8 Duke Street is a terrace of five cottages located in Sowerby Bridge, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared stone and feature a stone slate roof. They are two storeys high, with each cottage having one bay. Number 8 has an additional single-storey bay that was likely added around 1980. The openings of the cottages have plain stone surrounds, with windows that include flat-faced mullions. Each cottage has a door to the right, except for Number 4, which has its door on the left. The ground floor of each cottage features a four-light window, while the upper floor has a five-light window. There are plain gutter brackets on the eaves, and each cottage has a stack, except for Number 4, which has its stack at the right end. Number 8's added bay has a five-light window and is topped with a pent roof.
