Description
This is a row of four cottages located in Heptonstall. Nos. 1 and 2 were originally part of an early 18th-century two-cell house, while Nos. 3 and 4 were added in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature a stone slate roof, with quoins at the corners. They are two storeys high.
No. 1 has a lean-to that contains a doorway and two double chamfered mullioned windows with four lights, although each window is missing two mullions. There are altered three-light windows above. No. 2 features a doorway with a chamfered surround. Quoins are present between Nos. 2 and 3. Both Nos. 3 and 4 have doorways with sill ties and three-light flat-faced mullioned windows on each floor. The row has two stacks at the ridge, with brick stacks serving Nos. 3 and 4.
