Description
The Wharf Office at Elland Wharf, built around 1820, is a single-storey stone structure that was originally a porters lodge. It features regularly coursed stone and a hipped stone slate roof, with a rectangular plan. The rear elevation has three single brick chimney stacks spaced evenly. The symmetrical facade faces the wharf yard and includes a central doorway with stone jambs and head, flanked by two four-light casement windows. All window openings have cambered arches and stone cills. This building is part of a planned wharf and is one of a series of cottages constructed by the Calder and Hebble Navigation Company between 1770 and 1834.
