Description

Ireland Bridge is a road bridge over the River Aire, rebuilt in 1686, with a parapet that may date from the 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and features six segmental arches, pointed cut-waters with pyramidal caps, and projecting piers above. The bridge has a band and a parapet with chamfered coping. The abutments on the north side are intact, while those on the south side are damaged. The southernmost arch spans a mill-race. This large, elegant bridge is well-preserved and remains virtually unaltered, prominently located near the Parish Church.
