Harden Congregational Church

Harden Congregational Church is a chapel built around 1865. It features an ashlar front with hammer-dressed stone on the sides and rear, topped by a Welsh blue-slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a pedimented gable front with a symmetrical three-bay facade. There is a basement plinth and battered channelled quoin pilasters at the ground floor, which rise from a string course to panelled quoin pilasters on the first floor. The church has a frieze and a strongly-modelled bracketed pediment that contains a scrolled cartouche.

A flight of steps leads up to the doorway, which is flanked by pilasters with scrolled lugs at the bases, and features panelled spandrels above a fan-light arch with a cornice over. All the windows are semicircular-arched with archivolts. The ground floor windows have consoles at the sills and are double-framed with slightly pointed voussoired and keyed arches on panelled imposts. The first floor has an impost band linking slightly pointed archivolts, with a coupled window in the centre divided by a Tuscan column. The building is adorned with a modillion cornice and frieze. The left and right returns consist of five bays, each with sill bands and string courses, and the windows have archivolts on console imposts, with keystones on the ground floor windows.
