Description
Nos 39 and 41, known as Ellercroft, is a Gothic-style house built around 1860-1870, with adjoining stables facing the road. The two-storey house is constructed of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. It features a steep gable end slate roof, which includes an attic, and has bargeboards with pendant finials. The house has canted bays and a mix of single and paired round-headed windows, with the paired ones supported by colonettes. A cast iron crested trellis porch enhances the entrance, and similar cresting is found on the shallow rectangular bay windows at the garden front. The stables also have bargeboarded gables.
