Description
The Allerton Warehouse consists of two four-storey blocks located at numbers 262 and 264, occupied by British Mohair Spinners. One block runs parallel to the road, opposite number 239, while the other is positioned at right angles behind it in the yard. Built around 1850-1860, the mill features sandstone "bricks" with ashlar sill boards along its long 14-window elevations. The windows are topped with thin ashlar lintels. The road-facing block includes large cast iron spearhead gates leading to a wagon archway, adorned with an alpaca ram's head keystone. Both blocks showcase attractive decorative ironwork on their fire escapes. A tall, narrow water tower with a small Venetian window is situated at the east corner of the building.
