Description

Riddlesden College, originally a barn, is a 17th-century building now serving as a bible college. It features coursed stone construction and stone slate roofs, forming an L-shaped range with two storeys. The barn section has a tall round-arched gabled cart-entry on the left, with chamfered voussoirs and a surround that breaks forward. Above this entry is a round-arched vent, and the gable is adorned with shaped kneelers and ashlar coping. There are two chamfered quoined doorways; the right one has a similar taking-in door above, while the other has a square opening above. The barn also includes round-headed vents with sunk spandrels and a first-floor window with two round-headed lights. Additionally, there are two 20th-century windows and modern glazing in the doors, along with skylights. The mistal range, positioned at right angles to the left, features three chamfered, quoined doorways with deep lintels and 20th-century doors and windows, along with two square openings above. The left side has a shaped kneeler and ashlar coping. At the rear, the barn has a three-light window with round-headed lights on the first floor, and both gable ends have round-arched and rectangular chamfered vents. This building was formerly the barn associated with West Riddlesden Hall.
