Description
Nos 1 and 2 Eldon Terrace are a pair of town houses built around 1840-1850, featuring a sandstone façade. Originally two stories high, they were raised to three stories with a parapet and coping added around 1860-1870. The houses have a sill band on the first floor and a string course to the second floor, which was originally a bed mould to the frieze. Each house has four windows on the front, with those above the doorways supported by carved consoles, cornices, and architrave surrounds. There are apron panels extending down to the sill band. The doorways are framed by heavy Doric pilasters, deep friezes, modillion bracket cornices, and blocking courses. Each house features six-panel doors with rectangular fanlights. This listing is included for its group value.
