Description

Eldon Lodge is a detached, three-storey town house built around 1840 to 1850. It is constructed of thinly coursed sandstone ashlar with rusticated quoins and a moulded sill course. The roof is covered in stone slate and features deep modillion bracket eaves. The three-bay front has architraved window surrounds to the upper floors, with a particularly deep eaves detail over the central first-floor window. The ground floor features paired windows with consoles to the friezes and cornices above. The front door consists of six fielded panels, a rectangular fanlight, and is set within a Franco-Egyptian eared architrave case with elongated carved leaf consoles to the cornice. A tripartite windowed extension is present to the west. The east return front has a one-window break into cornice consoles over the ground floor window.
