Description

This structure consists of a wall, gatepiers, steps, and a mounting block, located approximately 10 meters south-west of Monk Barn. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and is likely connected to an added wing at Monk Barn. The materials used include hammer-dressed stone and ashlar. The wall features coped ramps over a doorway that has an architrave and a false keystone, which is accessed by a flight of three stone steps. There is an additional flight of six stone steps leading to square gate-piers that have a chamfered plinth and a moulded cornice. Positioned between the steps, at right angles, is a mounting block with four steps on either side.
