6/159 Wall, gatepiers, steps and mounting block approx. 10 m south-west of Monk Barn

GV II

Wall, gatepiers, steps and mounting block. Early-mid C18, probably contiguous with added wing at Monk Barn (q.v.). Hammer-dressed stone and ashlar. Coped wall ramps over doorway with architrave and false keystone approached up a flight of 3 stone steps. Another flight of 6 stone steps leads to square gate-piers with chamfered plinth and moulded cornice. Set between the steps, at right angles, a mounting block with 4 steps either side.
