Description
The Oak Lane gates, gate piers, and lodge to Lister Park were built between 1903 and 1904. The lodge is designed in an Italianate style, constructed from sandstone brick and featuring bargeboarded gables. The ornate wrought iron carriage gates, which are in an early 18th-century style, are flanked by pedestrian gates. The gate piers are made of rusticated ashlar and topped with bracketed cornice caps, with the central pair featuring segmental pediments. These impressive gates were created to commemorate the opening of the Bradford Exhibition of 1904 by the Prince and Princess of Wales and were likely designed by the architects J W Simpson and M Allen, who also worked on Cartwright Hall.
