Description
Westcliffe Road Methodist Chapel, built in 1875, is now used as school rooms and was formerly a manse. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and has a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a three-storey former manse at the rear. The front features a three-bay pediment gable, with a central round-arched doorway that has a key, flanked by square-headed windows on either side. These windows have raised sills and very shallow block pediments supported by small, shaped brackets. The first floor has round-arched windows, paired in the center, all with archivolts, keys, and a sill band. The recent casements include glazing bars. A medallion in the tympanum reads "WESTCLIFFE ROAD CHAPEL 1875" in raised letters. The left and right side elevations each have six bays, with five bays of square-headed ground-floor windows and round-arched first-floor windows, while the sixth bay contains the manse, topped with a pediment. The door to the manse is located on the left elevation, also featuring recent casements with glazing bars. The interior was completely refurbished around 1979.
