Description
This is a mid-19th century canal warehouse located immediately west of number 7 on Wharf Street in Shipley. The warehouse is constructed of deeply-coursed stone with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. The front elevation facing Wharf Street features a bay of segmental-headed loading doors with quoined jambs, and a hoist above. The canal-facing elevation has a projecting bay supported on square piers, extended over the canal with corrugated sheeting. To the left of the projecting bay are lower floors containing segmental-headed loading doors with quoined jambs, and a small segmental-headed window to the upper floor. To the right are two bays, with the lower floor partially obscured by a later lean-to extension. The ground floor of this section has a three-light window with a segmental head, while other windows are square-headed with glazing bars. The warehouse has square brackets to the gutter. The right gable has a loading door to the upper floors and small segmental-headed windows, topped by an oculus in the gable apex. It has gable copings.
