Description
The Belgian War Memorial at City Road Cemetery is a war memorial built around 1920. It is made of ashlar stone and features slate panels. The memorial has a tapered octagonal cross shaft with panelled sides and decorative fleurons, topped with a crucifix set within a quatrefoil. The pedestal is an unequal-sided octagon with inscribed Westmorland slate panels on its four larger sides. It stands on a square base that is set in a square of paving and surrounded by a kerb. This memorial commemorates Belgian soldiers and refugees who died in Sheffield during the First World War.
