Description
Arbourthorne Cottages North East are three estate cottages, now functioning as houses, built around 1841 for the 12th Duke of Norfolk. They are constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and feature stone slate roofs, which have two stone ridge stacks and a single side wall stack. The cottages are two storeys high and have a two-window range, arranged in an L-plan layout. The windows are glazing bar casements. On the left side, there is a gable with a two-light window above and a three-light window below. On the right, there is a gabled through-eaves dormer with a two-light window, and below it, a three-light window that is flanked on the left by a gabled porch, which was altered in the mid-20th century, and on the right by another three-light window. The returns of the cottages have similar porches. The cottages form a handed pair with those to the southwest and were likely built when Norfolk Park was laid out.
