Description

Three houses, built around 1820, with alterations carried out around 1900 and in the late 20th century. The left-hand house is colourwashed brick, while the others are brick with ashlar dressings and hipped slate roofs featuring four side wall stacks. The buildings are three storeys high, with the central block having an additional attic level, and feature a six-window front. Windows are set within brick flat arches. The central block is recessed and has deep, modillioned wooden eaves. A shallow, central bow window on the first floor has three 12-pane sashes behind a cast-iron balustrade. Above this, two 12-pane sashes are topped with keystones. A wide, pedimented dormer window above features a three-light casement behind a cast-iron balustrade. The flanking wings each have two 12-pane sashes on the first floor (some of which have been reglazed), and two 9-pane sashes above. The ground floor features a pilastered wooden shopfront with a corniced fascia bearing ‘Brilliant’ lettering, a recessed glazed door, and flanking segment-headed windows. To the right of this is a passage opening leading to a similar shopfront with an unlettered fascia. The left-hand shopfront is significantly altered, with a central door flanked by single windows. The interior has not been inspected.
