Description
The stables at Nunnery Goods Station, now used as workshops, were built around 1890 and have undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. They are constructed of red brick with a blue brick plinth and feature a hipped slate roof, which is topped with segment-headed wooden ventilators. The building has stone sills and cogged eaves, and is a single storey with a total of 27 windows. The original openings have segmental heads. In the center, there are two 15-pane casements flanked by single cart openings that were enlarged in the 20th century. To the left, there are eight 10-pane casements, followed by a board door and a similar window. To the right, there are ten 10-pane windows. The rear of the building has a panelled plinth and a coped parapet, maintaining the 27-window arrangement. Inside, the stables feature king post roofs.
Additionally, there is a curved boundary wall that adjoins the stables, which has panels with cogged heads and triangular moulded brick and ashlar coping. The site includes two square brick gate piers with guard irons, along with a similar end pier. This building serves as an ancillary structure to the Nunnery Goods Station, which is not included in this listing.
