Description
The boundary walls and railing for Springfield Junior and Infant Schools were built in 1875, likely designed by Innocent & Brown for the Sheffield School Board. The structure features rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and cast-iron railings. It includes a plinth with chamfered coping that supports the cast-iron railing, along with square stone piers topped with chamfered ashlar caps. On the Cavendish Street side, there is a pair of cast-iron gates to the right and an angled corner to the left. On the Broomspring Lane side, there is a wooden gate leading to the caretaker's house, and further along, two sections of railing have been replaced by a wooden fence. This boundary wall and railing serve as an ancillary structure to the Springfield Junior and Infant Schools and are noted for their group value.
