Description

Number 19 is a sweet factory built around 1850, accompanied by an attached enclosure wall. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with single brick and stone gable stacks. It has two storeys and a three-window range, but due to its hillside location, the front appears as a single storey. The front includes a chamfered plinth, three large windows, and to the right, a board door with a raised stone surround. The rear has three windows above and below, a small door flanked by two large windows. The enclosure wall, which surrounds the building on all sides, is mostly demolished, but a curved section at the front retains fragments of chamfered coping and two square monolithic gate piers, along with a square stone pier with a flat cap to the left. The interior was not inspected. In the early 20th century, the building served as a studio for Charles Green, a local modeller and founder of the Hunter Archaeological Society. At the time of the survey, the building was vacant and boarded up.
