Description

No. 7 Leopold Street is a former medical school, now used as offices, built in 1888 by architect J.D. Webster. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features slate and lead roofs, with two coped ashlar stacks on the side walls. It has a plinth and a panelled and pierced balustrade with pedestals and ball finials. The structure is three storeys high, plus attics, and has a four-window range.

The windows are made with stone mullions. On the first floor, the façade is divided by rusticated pilasters beneath a moulded cornice, showcasing two 2-light windows flanked by single-light casements in narrower side bays. The second floor, also divided by thin pilasters under a dentilled main cornice, features two 3-light windows flanked by single 2-light windows. The attic includes two dormers with pilasters and enriched pediments, each containing round-arched wooden framed casements with two lights.

On the ground floor, the façade is again divided by rusticated pilasters under a moulded cornice, with two 2-light windows. To the right, there is a single-light window, and to the left, a moulded ashlar doorcase with an enriched datestone in the pediment. This doorcase features six-panelled double doors and an overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
