Description

This giant urn, located approximately 100 metres south-south-west of the south wing of Wentworth Woodhouse, is a garden ornament dating from the mid to late 18th century, created for the Wentworth estate. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a bowl shape with a turned foot, resting on a large, square-sectioned pedestal. The urn has a moulded plinth, an uncarved die, and a cornice. The bowl, which has a moulded rim, is made from a single piece of stone and measures approximately 2½ metres in diameter.
