Description

A pair of ornamental vases are located flanking the main avenue to the west front of Wentworth Woodhouse, approximately 130 metres west of the house. These garden ornaments date from the late 17th century or early 18th century and are made of limestone on sandstone plinths. The vases are narrow-necked and oviform, each featuring a turned foot and a foliate-carved base entwined with fruiting vines in relief. They have scrolled handles with scaly decoration, although some damage is noted. These vases are included for their group value.
