Description

THORNE KING STREET SE 6813 (SE 61 SE) (north side) 15/102 Outbuilding to rear of 18.8.86 No 44A GV II Part of house unoccupied and undergoing renovation at time of resurvey. c1800. Red brick in Flemish bond, pantile roof. 2 storeys, 4 windows to 1st floor. Doorway (without door) on left has overlight beneath rubbed-brick flat arch; on its left a 2-storey canted bay window, its ground-floor openings bricked-up. On right of door a boxed 16-pane sash with, beyond, three openings with rubbed-brick flat arches, one a bricked-up doorway, the next a bricked-up window with, beyond, remains of a tripartite window. 1st floor: bay window on left has a sash with glazing bars beneath hipped roof; 3 windows on right are sashes with glazing bars that to left of 16 panes. Brick end stack on left, 2 ridge stacks (one truncated); hipped right end to roof. Rear: 2 doorways with overlights, one of them with an old 6-panel door; 3 sashes with glazing bars to lst floor. Formed service wing to house now Nos 44A/44B King Street and once the home of the Darley family formerly owners of Thorne's brewery.
