Description
The lining of an oval pond with a central statue is located approximately 100 metres to the west of Hickleton Hall. This feature, likely from the 19th century, has undergone alterations and was created for the Hickleton Hall estate. It consists of limestone walling and a pedestal, with a large oval pool aligned with the west front of the hall. The pool includes steps leading to a central square pedestal that has sunken panels and a cornice. The classical statue, which depicts a male figure standing before a lion, is missing its arms and head. The pool is now partly infilled and has a retaining wall with concrete copings. This structure is included for its group value with Hickleton Hall.
