Description
The ha-ha retaining wall located to the south of Hickleton Hall, including urns, gate piers, and gates, dates from the mid-18th century and was built for the Hickleton Hall estate. It is constructed from coursed, dressed limestone and features wrought-iron gates. The coped retaining wall rises to the end piers and to the gate piers, which are positioned to the left of center. The wall is adorned with large fluted urns, some of which are damaged and displaced. The square, corniced gate piers no longer have finials, and the heavily-scrolled iron gates lead to steps on the south side that descend into the parkland.
