Description
Nos. 8 and 9 are a pair of houses dating from the late 19th century, situated in Hickleton village. They are constructed from deeply-coursed, dressed limestone with stone slate eaves courses to a pantile roof. The houses have an L-shaped plan, including a wing to the front left and a lean-to addition to the rear.
The main two-storey range has a 1:3 window arrangement on the first floor. A Tudor-arched doorway is located on the left-hand side, featuring a board door with ovolo-moulded, planted beads. To the right are two-light mullioned windows with casements and glazing bars, set within recessed, chamfered surrounds. The ground-floor window furthest to the right has a plain lintel. The wing to the left features a canted oriel window with a hipped ashlar roof, and a two-light window above matching that of the main range. Rendered ridge stacks are present on both the wing and the main range, each with plinths and tabling.
