Description
The lychgate at the north-west corner of the churchyard of the Church of St. Wilfrid is a late medieval structure made of ashlar limestone. It is designed in the style of a south porch, which may have been relocated. The lychgate features a moulded plinth and a double-chamfered arch leading towards the church, supported by half-octagonal responds with broach-stopped chamfers and cemented capitals. The gable copings are made of ashlar and topped with a cross, while the roof is also ashlar with ribs. The rear arch is similar to the front but narrower.
Inside, there is a side-wall niche containing three human skulls along with the inscription "Today for me / Tomorrow for thee." The interior also has chamfered, transverse arches leading to the soffit.
