Description
This is an outbuilding attached to the rear of Number 13, dating from the 15th or early 16th century, with later modifications in the 17th century and 20th century alterations. The structure features timber framing that is clad in coursed rubble with quoins, and part of it is rendered. The roof is made of stone slate on the west side and asbestos on the east.
On the west side, there are various altered openings, some of which have chamfered surrounds. The east side is set back to the left and shows exposed timber framing, with a round arched opening to the right at a low level. The north gable includes a part-blocked entrance on the left with a cambered head set into a deep lintel, along with other altered openings.
Inside, the building consists of three bays supported by three trusses on posts, with possibly a fourth truss in the north gable wall. The north truss features raking queen struts, while the centre truss has had its struts removed. The south truss has a curved brace from the post to the tie beam on the west side and a shorter straight brace on the east side. There are jowelled posts and deep cambered tie-beams, with the wall plates still intact. A floor was inserted in the 20th century.
