Description
The Lamproom Theatre is a non-conformist chapel, now serving as a boys' club, built around 1780. It features wings added in 1810 and a mid-19th century addition, with alterations made over time. The building is constructed of dressed stone and has a Welsh slate roof, standing two storeys tall. The entrance is located at the rear, while the front has a three-bay symmetrical bow shape. It includes round-arched windows with fixed casements, moulded imposts, and grooved voussoirs, except for the ground-floor center window, which has a moulded arch. There is a band between the floors, and each side has a single bay wing that is slightly set back, featuring paired round-arched doorways (with one doorway blocked) and a single round-arched light on the first floor. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. The rear elevation on Westgate has a central doorway beneath a 20th-century canopy. The mid-19th century addition on the left side has blocked ground-floor windows and twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor. The interior has been completely altered.
