Description
Wood Head Hall Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed from finely-jointed sandstone ashlar with a stone slate roof and renewed brick stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a symmetrical facade with five bays. It includes a plinth and projecting quoins. The original panelled door is set in an architrave with plinth blocks, a plain frieze, and consoles supporting a pediment, all within a round-headed shallow recess. Flanking the door are sash windows with glazing bars in plain projecting surrounds. A first-floor sill band connects five similar sashes, with the central window highlighted by a moulded architrave, pulvinated frieze, and cornice. The moulded eaves cornice breaks forward at each end and returns, while moulded kneelers and cyma-moulded gable copings are present. There are end stacks, and at the rear, a central stair-window has a blind opening above. The eaves cornice is also visible. Inside, the farmhouse retains contemporary fireplaces, panelled doors, and shutters, making it a particularly well-preserved example of its period.
