Description
The base of Cundy Cross, located on the south side of the junction with Bank Lane, dates from the 16th or 17th century. It is made of gritstone and consists of a roughly-worked block that measures approximately 0.75 meters square. The top face features a socket for the shaft, which is now drained by a groove, and there are two additional holes flanking this groove. This cross commemorates Curate Edmund Cundy, who died in 1623.
