Description
The arbour at the south end of the western terrace of the garden to the south front of Wortley Hall is an early to mid-19th century structure built for the Wortley Hall estate. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a two-bay recess that is flanked on three sides by a balustraded wall. The dwarf wall is topped with a balustrade that has a moulded plinth, square balusters, and moulded copings. The front corners are supported on two sides by scrolled brackets that are intricately carved with rose and oak leaf motifs. This arbour is included in the listing for its group value with the surrounding estate.
