Description
Royd Moor Farmhouse, north part now a dairy, was built in the 17th century, with later additions from the early 18th century, and subsequently altered in the 20th century. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. It is arranged in a T-plan, with the 18th-century section to the front and the older part set back on the right. A chamfered plinth runs around the base, and quoins highlight the corners. The north part features a Tudor-arched entrance and an altered former four-light double-chamfered window, both with a common hood mould. A single three-light double-chamfered window with a hood mould is found on the first floor, and a round-arched single light with a dripmould is in the gable apex. The gables have hollow-chamfered copings resting on moulded kneelers. The 18th-century section has a partially blocked arched entrance on the right return and a later entrance on the left; other openings have been altered or are new. The gable of this section is coped and contains an ashlar stack. The rear of the north part has altered double-chamfered windows on both the ground and first floors, of four and three lights respectively, and a small single light in the gable apex. The interior of the older section has been altered to function as a dairy.
