Description
The L-shaped range of farm buildings and barn at Squirrel Hall Farm dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone with quoins and features stone slate roofs. The barn consists of approximately five internal bays, while the farm range, which is two storeys high, projects at right angles from the left end of the barn. The barn has a central square-headed cart entry with a quoined surround, as well as an opposing entry at the rear. The farm range is made up of two sections; the earlier part on the right has three animal doors, two of which are part-blocked, and the later part has two animal doors. There are also two single lights positioned at a high level. Stone steps lead to a first-floor entrance in the left gable, and the rear of the farm range has a ground-floor back-to-earth. Both the farm range and barn feature gable copings on moulded kneelers. Inside the barn, there are principal rafter trusses with queen struts.
